About the Presentation
The events of the last two years have highlighted to all of us the increasing importance and prevalence of software in the manufacturing workspace. Software is now present at the R&D lab bench and at the full-scale production line. Everything from the purchase order for the first raw material to the finished product batch record to the quality release and CofA can be documented in an electronic system. All of these systems and documents should (and for many of us, must) adhere to data integrity principles. However, to many, the concepts of data integrity remain vague and their implementation through software validation and instrument qualification seems arduous. By taking a practical look at how data integrity can be implemented, we can help each other to better understand our increasingly electronic manufacturing workspace.
In this presentation, I will take a practical look at the concepts of software data integrity in the manufacturing industry, first touching on some of the main principles and the recent history of their implementation and regulation. Then I will dive into a few examples of implementations of standalone software and information management systems, giving a few best-practice tips that I had to learn the hard way. Finally, we will end with a pep talk and a vision for a future where manufacturing quality data are not only plentiful, but also reliable, traceable, and easier to validate.
Please bring your hardest data integrity related question and I will leave time at the end to discuss a couple of them.
